Tried turning it back on and it owuld only stay on for about 15 min. Since then I have left it in my bedroom procastinating on getting a repairman to fix it. Well since I have read this site I figure I'm probably SOL. Never buy RCA again will go with some other brand. Joe <jgdedr@live.com> Abilene , Tx USA - Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 00:19:59 (EST) I had an RCA TV since 2000 it works great never had a problem, I watched shows and movies on it until I gave it away to my stepbrother and after all this time that RCA TV is been working for 10 years I wonder why you guys complain about RCA products but they have years in the bussines even if their bought by a French company, or if it is bought by Sony I will buy another RCA product as long as I live because RCA rocks. Zenith is a good brand it is RCA's competitor but is bought by a Korean company called LG their best brand in the bussiness that came out from Korea at it seems that LG is better than Samsung. When that time that I am not going to buy the RCA brand is when RCA will be bought by another Korean company called Samsung damn I had a problem with that 20 inch Samsung TV it was taken fixed twice and at the end it went dead it had so many problems it did not showed the on screen menu, then it went blinking and after that it was dead, that is why I will not recomend you to buy Samsung because it is Samsuck and that is why they sell that shit expensive now. Buy a Sony if you had bad expericence with RCA but they also had problems buy a Panasonic, or any other brand maybe Zenith. If the day comes when Samsung buys RCA then Samsung will totally fucked it up and RCA becomes a piece of shit when it is bought by that shitty Korean company known as Samsung. Miguel A. I would tell them that all electronic suck. They are not made they way used to make them and they are NOT made to last long AT ALL! They want to you to pay a killing for these electronics OR anything with a motor and then they want you to buy an extended warranty! My televisions, microwaves, lawnmowers, refrigerators, especially washers and dryers and other motorized products; you people know what I mean. All of them used to last and last for 20+ years. Not anymore. Those days are LOOOONG GONE. Cars are just as bad or even worse. The old clunkers with rust on them and have over 200,000 and 300,000 miles and more, are still running when the brand new ones or anything over 100,000 miles or 5 years are in the shop costing another fortune to fix. By then your warranty has run out; or if you have a warranty still in affect these car dealers will charge you for SOMETHING! My point being that you can't rely on anything lasting more than a couple years, at the most anyway. It's very sad and very, very aggravating. Madison <hall84@live.com> Hickory, NC USA - Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 03:11:04 (EST) I just replaced a 27" RCA that was purchased in 2006 with a Sylvania Superset made in 1992 when Philips still made them in the United States. From now on, I will own nothing but Sony or Panasonic televisions. Tony - Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 15:31:24 (EST) We bought a 42 inch lcd flatscreen tv (rca) from Walmart - just about a 2 yrs ago - suddenly it stopped working and all we got was "unusable" signal. My husband was on the internet and put his problem in and "someone" whom we owe A BIG THANKYOU!!!!! told us it was a tiny fuse. If you go to Digi -Key (www.digikey.com) you can order the fuse (we ordered two) they are 81 cents each. The Item Number f1455ct-nd fuse .750A 63V FAST 1206 Sched B: 853610 ECCN: EAR99 LEAD: LEAD FREE It only took 4 or 5 dys for the "very very tiny fuses to arrive" we bought an extrA one just like the person did who told us how to fix the tv. My brother took the back of the TV off and 15 minutes later the TV was put back together and works great. I don't know all the ins & outs of electronics but I do know all the TV repair persons wanted $65. to $100 just to look at my tv -- and for 81 cents it is working great!! So I hope whoever told us how to fix our TV reads this so we can say THANKYOU. Vicki Cain Laura, oh usa - Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 23:11:41 (EDT) I just got stuck with a Piece of Junk from RCA. I have contacted my state attorney general and also the U.S. attorney general. Free trade had really been free for other countries, we buy their junk and they do not guarantee it. RCA is now owned by TTE a Chinese company. Tim Cranford <tcranford9@triad.rr.com> Ramseur, NC USA - Friday, September 04, 2009 at 01:57:12 (EDT) I have two of these RCA entertainment Series in both of my kids rooms. Picked them up with the remotes on the side of the road in new condition in different locations, both had power problems I changed the fuses in 15 minutes and they have worked well ever since but they work well for free but I would not pay for them as they are way too fragile . Use the vacuum cleaner anywhere in the house and they cut off , but well worth the 10 cents fuse that I put in them. I also have a RCA flat screen , big one , bought it for $ 100.00 at a yard sale works great but I realize if it packs up and I cant fix it then the cycle must go on and I will have to put it out on the street . David - Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 20:04:02 (EDT) Nothing nasty but I want to share the experience I had with RCA Customer Service: I bought a TV in Feb 08 after 18 months the TV turns on and off by itself. I called to have support from RCA, the service customer and manager provided me with a big disappointment. One requested almost the price of the TV$ and the manager increased the price with 3$ extra over the first price as an exchange program on a TV. I paid less then what they asking me for the same TV. I feel that the products should last more than 18 months. It is when something happens to your customer that we can see the quality of service. Not happy about their service I send a comment on WWW.RCA.com. They send me back an e-mail asking me to call back, what I did to receive the same answer as the first time I call them; I am very disappointed of their service. For your next purchases, I hardly suggest that you to take the time to shop and take reference on the company you deal with. For myself I have learn that the brand RCA or any product from Thomson SA use under licence to TTE Corporation is out of my shopping list. I hope this information can help you to be more careful when you buy any item, in my case the compare to all the others comments I read on this page is a small amount of money to lose to learn about RCA. "This useless peace of crap was purchased from Circuit City just under 2 years ago...the picture sucks, all warped with three lines at the top, coloured, the effects are something close to being on acid when you try to watch it. So I'm told. Three D images, this was our first large TV 52" wow we were stoked just watching Nascar was just about as good as being there. I will go to circuit city, try to work something out, the company was aware of the challenges but chose not to recall, bastards, I hope they all rot in hell. If the retailer refuses to help I will put that big honkin tv in the back of my truck and back up to the front doors quickly and slam on the breaks hopefully blocking their front doors with that stupid tv.....wish me luck! It stopped working on 07.13.09. The warranty, of course, was for 12 months. Normally, I would say that purchasing an extended warranty for electronics products is foolishness. I will make an exception for RCA products. If you must buy RCA get the extended warranty, you won't regret it. mic <michael.teri@sbcglobal.net> springfield, MO United States - Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:23:34 (EDT) Purchased RCA 32in TV@walmart may2006 it lasted for 3yrs which is longer than others. Robert - Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 22:37:59 (EDT) I don't own any newer RCA products, but everyone out there should know this: The problem is (1) China, (2) our insatiable demand for lower and lower PURCHASE (versus ownership) costs, and (3) the selling of formerly-reputable brand names for profit. The RCA we Americans knew and loved hasn't existed for decades. All that exists now are the three letters "R", "C", and "A" - and they were for sale to the highest bidder. RCA did NOT survive the Japanese consumer electronics invasion of the 1970s and 1980s. Asia, and China in particular, preys on ignorant Americans who still believe that sequence of three letters has any tie whatsoever to the RCA of days past. Believe me, they do NOT. The same thing must be said of brand names like Fisher, Sherwood, Sylvania, Emerson, and, to a lesser degree, GE and Magnavox. With literally NO domestic consumer electronics companies remaining, the best advice I can give is to buy from a Japanese company that sells their products UNDER THEIR OWN NAME and, if possible, manufactures these products IN Japan (or, at least, not in mainland China). It worked fine for two months, and today on my way to the train the it just shut off in the middle of a song. It won't come back on at all. And just now, I was trying to see if it would work and I noticed it's making some crazy hissing noise like it's going to explode!!! I had to put it on my back porch just in case. First the $225 lamp goes out, then a $715 color wheel. (all plus labor, of course) RCA, Thompson were no help. The set was 7 months out of warranty. Each call to their 800 number got me to some fucking gook or raghead who could not speak without sounding like they had a fist in their mouth. RCA sucks. They offered zero help for their inferior piece of shit tv. I stumbled upon this site, but I will tell you, there are thousands of unhappy RCA owners out there ready to beat the shit out of them! Janet Jankel Georgia, VT US - Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 22:43:34 (EST) I have a 1987 RCA Dimensia console TV that I got along the road. It inspired me to research the Dimensia model line and write the Wikipedia article on it (RCA Dimensia). It is a very cool and high-end TV, but it DOES have that annoying and ever-common RCA design quirk where the RF input cuts out. I have many RCA TV's that do that. RCA products are very poor quality these days, but the old Dimensia's and Colortrak 2000's are very cool and have features that are not common today. Look up RCA Dimensia, Colortrak 2000, and Lyceum TV on Wikipedia. Daniel Christensen <qazrfv71@yahoo.com> Geneva, NY United States - Thursday, February 05, 2009 at 13:12:38 (EST) Yes, it is true. Simply put, RCA products suck out loud. And, by the way, in reference to an earlier post, Sony isn't much better. I work on televisions day in and day out, and while there is not much in the way of consumer electronics built in the U.S. any longer, the fact remains that as long as people purchase products from Wal*Mart they will purchase junk. There are just no two ways about it. RCA, Sony, Samsung: All names that are marketed very well, but are just flat out not good products. You can hold the names of the manufacturers that build affordable, quality products in one hand: LG, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sharp, Panasonic. And if you plan on having any support you sure do not want to buy from a "big box" store. Purchase from a "mom & pop" independent dealer. They generally carry quality products because it is their neck on the line. If you bought cheap you got crap - and you deserved it! There is no such thing as a free lunch! If any one can start up a class action law suit please add me to your list!!!! I purchased what I thought was a really nice size T.V. for my bed room...xbox ready, nice color, really good sound, until after 2 years it died...one minute I was watching my favorite show, the next I'm looking at a black screen. This happened with no warning signs or anything. Wait, I'll back track it did turn off by itself a few days before, but I didn't think anything of it because when I hit the power button everything was fine.( I guess that was the fist sign of trouble) after my television set went black, I turned it off and tried turning it back on, instead of getting a clear picture I received a LOUD, TERRIBLE, RINGING SOUND!!!!! For a minute I thought the T.V. was about to blow up...need less to say I tried calling their customer service department and was told that my warranty was only for 2yrs. 600.00 bucks may not be alot to may, but it was a loss for me!!! all of these so called big shot companys are now getting a taste of their own scam, a little thing called BANKRUPTCY!!!! Remeber the old saying," GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY"!!!!!! PAYBACK IS SOMETHING :-) the little people will win in the long run. I hope my purchase along with the thousands of others that you took advantage of helps you sleep at night, remember nothing good comes out of hurting those that trust in you!!!!!!!!!!!!
